In a nutshell: A quality improvement methodology was introduced at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust to reduce the number of cases of C difficile infection.  A new antimicrobial team introduced new guidelines and established a ‘Breakthrough Series’ collaborative to facilitate team learning.  The top 20 changes implemented are listed

In a Nutshell: The MRSA objective reflects a zero tolerance approach to preventable infections and the aim of reducing variation in performance on MRSA bloodstream infections.  NHS organisations will be set an objective for reducing MRSA infections, relative to the median, with the best-performers setting their objectives locally.
